June

We are already well into June – the last month of the Rotary year.   When I started writing these letters last July I wondered what I could possibly find to write about every month – but there have been so many wonderful things going on in District 6270 that it has never been a problem coming up with ideas!

You all are amazing and it has been so much fun learning about your clubs – your fundraisers – and, more importantly, seeing all the fantastic service projects you do with the money you raise.  There is such a variety in the services you all provide, both in your own communities, and in the wider international world of Rotary . It is true – if a Rotarian can dream it – they can also find a way to make it happen!

Although the Rotary year is nearly over, there is still much to be done.    In reviewing Foundation contributions today I see that a number of clubs have not yet reached their goals for the year for the Foundation and/or for Polio.     Please take a minute right now to review your club goals, and remember, every Rotarian can check the Rotary website, sign in on  “MyRotary”  and review their club information.   If your club has not reached it’s goal please talk to your president and your board.  If you wait too long, Rotary will not have time to enter all the information before the end of the Rotary year and that will result in fewer funds for all of us three years down the road.

Congratulations are in order for the clubs who have reached or exceeded their goals and congratulations to the 34 club presidents who been true leaders by personally contributing to the foundation.   That represents 63% of the club presidents, which beats last years 57%.  The rest of you still have time to send in your contribution – any amount is welcome!

Congratulations to the clubs who are receiving the Presidential Citation this year.    It was not an easy task, but the following clubs have succeeded in meeting the requirements  – Elmbrook, Lake Country-Hartland, Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Waukesha Sunrise, and West Bend Sunrise. In addition, the Milwaukee Rotaract club received the Rotaract Presidential Citation. Congratulations again to all of you.!

I have to close with a huge THANK YOU to all of you for welcoming me into your clubs this year.  I have truly enjoyed getting to know you better – attending your fundraisers – learning about your service projects –speaking at various events – spending time with the Youth Exchange students - chartering a new club – and partying with you at TriCon District Conference    The calendar for June is still full and I plan to be serving the district in other capacities for a long time so please don’t hesitate to call on me whenever I can be of assistance.

Thank you again for all you do to     LIGHT UP  ROTARY  !!!
