Rotary International President Elect to Address 2016 World Affairs Seminar "Water: Global Resource to Share and Protect."

RI International President Elect John F. Germ will address the 2016 World Affairs Seminar (WAS) at Carroll University the afternoon of June 26.  This year's theme is "Water: Global Resource to Share and Protect."  Water is one of the key areas of interest of Rotary International.  Providing a safe water supply has been key to Rotary's efforts to eliminate Polio around the world.  It is also a strong fit with "Rotary Serving Humanity," the theme of Mr. Germ's term as RI President.

John F. Germ is board chair and chief executive officer of Campbell and Associates Inc., consulting engineers. He joined the firm as an engineer in 1965 after four years in the U.S. Air Force. He serves on the boards of several organizations, including the Public Education Foundation, Orange Grove Center Inc., and Blood Assurance Inc.
RI President-elect John F. Germ chose Rotary Serving Humanity as his theme for 2016-17. Noting Rotary’s unique ability to bring together committed professionals to achieve remarkable goals, Germ believes that “now is the time to capitalize on our success: as we complete the eradication of polio, and catapult Rotary forward to be an even greater force for good in the world.”
The World Affairs Seminar, a program of Rotary District 6270, attracts over 300 high school age delegates each year. It was started in  1976 by Dr. Dale Brock, a Rotarian and Professor at UW Whitewater.  In 2008 WAS moved to Carroll University. In recent years about 30 countries and five continents have been represented.
Rotarians and their guests are invited to attend lectures during the week of WAS at no cost.  They are also invited to an open Rotary meeting at noon June 30 during which they will have the opportunity to eat lunch with Student Delegates, hear about the Seminar, and stay for afternoon Capstone presentations if they desire.  Cost is $15.00 at the door.  For more information contact tplanten@worldeaffairsseminar.org or call (424) 379-8020.
