Hosting an Inbound Student - Overview
As part of Central States Rotary Youth Exchange Rotary District 6270 hosts international high school students. The age of the students range from 15 ½ - 18 ½ years old. They are typically hosted by three families for four months each. Hosting is a wonderful opportunity for the entire family. Each family member is able to interact with an international student, perhaps learning some of their language, certainly learning some of their culture and how it differs from ours. Greater understanding is created between different nationalities.

- Room (Study area and separate bed are required. Separate bedroom not required.
- Board (three meals a day, clubs may help with school lunch)
- Participation in family activities (going out to eat, to the movies, family outings)
- For the family to show them a typical American family and culture.
Club Responsibilities for Inbounds
- Find 2-3 qualified host families. These families do not need to be Rotarians. Families should commit to host at least 3-4 months consecutively.
- Pay Inbound administration fee which covers district administration fees, weekend student gatherings, orientation, District Governor Conference, and Central States Conference in Grand Rapids, MI.
- Monthly student allowance $75
- Provide for school fees, and school lunch if host family does not send lunch
- Provide transportation to required District events
- Bring student to Rotary meetings and club pays for meals for student
- Christmas, birthday and farewell gifts for the student ($200-$300)
- Optional cell phone
